Located on Panglao Island, there is a slender expanse of white sandy beach renowned as one of the world's premier diving destinations – Alona Beach. Its fame stems from its proximity to a vibrant house reef, allowing visitors to marvel at corals and colorful fish without the need for specialized equipment. Spanning a length of 1.5 kilometers, the beach can be traversed on foot within a leisurely 10-15 minute stroll. Interestingly, its name pays homage to a local actress named Alona Alegre. During the 1970s, when the beach was still unoccupied, Alona Alegre filmed a movie there and endeared herself to the locals with her charm and courtesy. In admiration, they bestowed her name upon the beach, cementing her legacy in its history.
